6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Japan’s Volcano Islands

(MENAFN) A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck the Volcano Islands in Japan on Monday, with no reported casualties, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences.

The quake occurred at 03:55 GMT in the North Pacific Ocean at a shallow depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles), approximately 283 km (176 miles) from the Northern Mariana Islands. The epicenter was initially located at 23.12°N latitude and 144.30°E longitude.
